Concrete basins are low-maintenance, but "low" isn't "none." Here's what actually keeps one looking good for years, and what to do if it picks up a mark along the way.
Everyday Cleaning
A soft cloth, warm water, and a pH-neutral soap is all you need for regular cleaning. Avoid harsh acidic cleaners (vinegar, strong descalers) — they can strip the sealant over time. Wipe the basin dry after use where possible; standing water is the main cause of mineral staining, not the concrete itself.
Resealing
Every Seedleme basin leaves our workshop factory-sealed, but sealant does wear over time with daily use. Re-sealing roughly once a year (a simple wipe-on sealant, available at most hardware stores) keeps the surface resistant to staining and easy to clean. You'll know it's due when water stops beading on the surface.
Dealing with Cracks or Chips
Hairline surface marks are common with concrete and are part of its character — they don't affect the basin's structural integrity. For a chip or deeper mark, a concrete repair filler matched to your basin's colour can make it nearly invisible; we're also happy to advise on colour-matching if you get in touch. Structural cracks (rare, but possible with serious impact) are the one case where we'd recommend reaching out to us directly rather than attempting a DIY fix.
